Qualifications & experience

I have 30 years’ experience of working in mental health, including in the voluntary and statutory sector.  My current post, where I have worked for 12 years, is as the Senior Mental Wellbeing Adviser within Student Services at the University of South Wales.

The main purposes of my current role are:-

  1. To provide one-one support to students with mental health difficulties, facilitating their access, study and successful graduation .
  2. To promote mental health awareness amongst university staff and students and provide support to those staff working closely with students with mental health difficulties. This includes staff training in MHFA and ASIST.


I have been a MHFA trainer since 2011 and an accredited ASIST trainer since 2014.  I also have a PGCE and a Counselling qualification and have been an Associate Lecturer for the Open University since 1999.  I continue to teach an Open University Module.
