Qualifications & experience
I am an Approved MHFA Instructor. I qualified in summer 2013. I have delivered the course twice with a support tutor (Bethan Roberts).
I have attended MHFA as a participant and acted as a MHFA team member in my workplace since 2013.
I have also been involved in commissioning other staff training around mental health awareness and working with people with mental health issues.
I have worked at National Museum Wales since 2012. I work at St Fagans National History Museum and the National Waterfront Museum. In addition I also work across all our sites when required. Prior to this I worked in the voluntary sector in Cardiff and South East Wales, based at VCS, the Cardiff Volunteer Centre.
My work revolves around health and wellbeing, with a key focus on community engagement, adult learning and the development of volunteering and skills programmes to suit individual needs. I work closely with a variety of partners and have developed services and opportunities in a coproduced manner to ensure our programmes and opportunities are accessible and relevant to all. Mental Health comes in to what I do on a day to day basis, whether it is supporting families, young people, adults, older people or colleagues.
I will be delivering courses at some or all of the National Museum Wales Venues (most likely those within South Wales):
• National Museum Cardiff
• St Fagans National History Museum
• National Waterfront Museum Swansea
• National Coal Mining Museum (Big Pit)
• National Roman Legionary Museum (Caerleon)
• National Wool Museum (Ceredigion)
• National Slate Museum (Llanberis)
