I have worked for GAVO (Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations) since 2009 to the present, as a Mental Health Development Officer I work extensively with people with a mental health issues and their carers. I develop mental health peer support groups provide them with ongoing support and help them acquire funding. We also have local and Pan Gwent forums where service users and carers have the opportunity to have their voice heard and feed directly to the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board on services provided. My previous employment was with the Alzheimer’s Society as an Outreach Worker and I am developing a peer support group for young people with dementia and their carers therefore I have experience with functional and organic mental health illness. I have a passion for helping to take away the stigma and discrimination associated with having a mental health illness.

My interests and passions include Italy learning Italian, dining out, training my German Shepherd, gardening, reading Lee Childs and James Herbert.
