Current and Previous Work Experience:
I currently work as a Relevant Persons Representative for individuals who lack the mental capacity to consent to their care and treatment regimes and are not able to decide where they should live. The work is varied and includes individuals with dementia, learning difficulties, brain injury, autism and other cognitive impairments. I also act as a Litigation Friend in the Court of Protection and support individuals to appeal their deprivation of liberty, as well as supporting them in relation to other decisions which the Court is being asked to decide.
I have previously managed statutory IMHA and IMCA advocacy services and have worked as a statutory advocate for over 13 years. This work has involved supporting people who are both inpatients and outpatients in psychiatric services and also supporting those who lac capacity to make decisions about serious medical treatment and life changing decision around future accommodation.
I am an accredited instructor for Mental Health First Aid (Wales). I have consistently received positive feedback on the training I have provided and use my experience in working in the mental health field to provide real examples in my training.
I am always happy to receive enquiries for training. Please get in touch and let me know what your needs are.
