My name is Cheryl Parkinson; I am keen to offer support to individuals in order to assist them to achieve their learning goals and overcome any barriers they may face.
My career in Mental Health has spanned 30 years, and started when I worked in the community as a Support Worker with people with Mental Illness and Behaviour that was challenging. I went onto do my Registered Mental Nurse training. My Mental Health experience has included experience as a Community Psychiatric Nurse, a Day Hospital Manager, an Area Manager and a Staff Nurse within Mental Health and Substance Misuse Services. I have also worked within Learning and Development as a Training Officer and part-time lecturer within Further Education and Higher Education Institutions.
Throughout this time I have been lucky to have met many diverse individuals and I have learned so much throughout my career and my own education – especially in relation to the barriers that some individuals encounter during the course of their everyday lives.
