Background: I am passionate about mental health and have been working in the field for many years. I am a very experienced MHFA (Wales) Instructor, having delivered in excess of 100 courses since 2008 to a wide range of organisations in the public, private and third sectors.

I have been a tutor on mental health for Cardiff University’s PGCE and MA Social Work courses since 2010. I have also been delivering courses on ‘Mental Health Awareness’ in England and Wales to a range of Civil Service Departments (including the RAF, the Royal Navy, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Courts and Tribunal Service and HMRC ) and Police Authorities. I have also developed and delivered courses on ‘Managing Stress in the Workplace’ and ‘Stress Awareness’ for various staff groups in the NHS, Community First Projects the National Museum of Wales.

I have been a mindfulness teacher and trainer for the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice at Bangor University since 2010, teaching 8-week mindfulness courses to workplaces (including at the Welsh Assembly, the Office for National Statistics, Bangor University and the NHS), community groups and ‘general public’ groups as well as on a one-to-one basis with individuals with mental health issues.

Prior to 2008 I worked at the Disability Rights Commission managing a casework service which involved working with people who had experienced discrimination at work and/or in accessing services because of their mental health issue(s). I have also worked for several years as a caseworker/ casework manager for the Commission for Racial Equality and the Equal Opportunities Commission as well as spending four years working for an AIDS Education project working with drug users.

I have been an Associate of Diverse Cymru since 2008 and was an Associate for the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales from 2008-2012.
