Tony has experience of working with vulnerable persons with mental health and/or substance issues.
He was an Accredited Tutor with the Probation Service responsible for the delivery of several Home Office approved cognitive behaviour programmes and as a Treatment Manager monitored the delivery of other tutors.
He was employed by a Local Mind Association as a counsellor/manager, volunteer’s manager and managing a project aimed at assisting persons with mental health issues back into employment, education, training and voluntary positions.
Tony holds a City & Guilds qualification in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS). He also co-wrote and delivered training courses on the management of anxiety, depression, well-being, problem solving and confidence building.
Since 2011 Tony has been delivering suicide intervention training and is now a freelance trainer based in south-east Wales with his own training company. He specialises in training programmes developed by LivingWorks Education in Canada. These programmes provide caregivers and other helpers with suicide awareness and skills that help to save lives.
Tony is a Master Trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), having delivered 60+ courses; safeTALK and suicideTALK. He provides training in Wales and England on behalf of his own company and a number of other organisations.
In addition to being a MHFA(Wales) trainer Tony is also a member of the Samaritans Workplace Training Team delivering training courses in England and Wales for that Organisation.
