I currently work within the Welsh Government flagship anti-poverty programme Communities First working with those experiencing social and economic disadvantage. I have a good degree of mental health experience, previous working as the Senior Mental Health Development Officer for GAVO, as an Assistant Psychologist within Psychological Services in North Staffordshire NHS Trust. I am currently a Student Counsellor for Torfaen & Blaenau Gwent Mind.
I hold a Certificate of Higher Education in Counselling and I am currently completing a Post-graduate Diploma in Integrated Counselling and Psychotherapy (Level 7). I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and a graduate member of the British Psychological Society – holding a BSc (hons) Psychology.
I am an accredited instructor for Mental Health First Aid (Wales), Youth Mental Health First Aid (Wales) and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). I have worked with individuals from the public, private and third sectors, as well as service users, carers and volunteers. I have piloted Mental Health First Aid (Wales) to young carers from 12-25 years of age, which I provided presentations on to other trainers in North and South Wales. I am also registered with University of South Wales to deliver the MHFA accredited training (Level 4) with the University of South Wales. I have consistently received positive feedback on the training I have provided.
I also have a Diploma in Management and I am interested in different learning styles. I aim to keep the training I provide interactive and dynamic, developing people’s skills to provide a confident first response to someone experiencing mental ill health and suicidal thoughts in a compassionate non-stigmatising way. I am also interested in the use of Mental Health First Aid (Wales) to support better HR support and peer support through organisations.
I am always happy to receive enquiries for training. Please get in touch and let me know what your needs are.
